2003 Hearings and Testimonies on House Bill 218 Energy and Environment Committee Nancy Hollister, Chairman June 25, 2003 - Former State Representative Tom Lendrum and State Representative Tim Grendell introduced House Bill 218 into committee. September 17, 2003 - Opponent testimony was given by Jack Shaner, Ohio Environmental Council; Larry Mitchell, League of Ohio Sportsmen and Bernice Kammiller. The Ohio Lakefront Group started off with testimony given by OLG Chairman, David Carek. Other testimony was offered by James O' Connor, Director OLG; Thomas Jordon, CRAC Board and past-President OLG; Adrian Betleski, former judge, Director OLG; and Cherry Peirce. September 24, 2003 - Opponent testimony was given by Edith Chase. The Ohio Lakefront Group continued testimony with Russell Claus, Director OLG; Raymond Ginter; Sandra Wade, Director OLG; Bud Edwards, Shoreline Contractors Inc.; Ned Schabel, Beachcliff Board of Trustees; Ken Tatter, Ohio Real Estate Appraiser. October 1, 2003 - Opponent testimony was given by Dr. Sam Speck, Director, Ohio Department of Natural Resources. November 19, 2003 – Opponent testimony was given by Ed Hauser; Jack Shaner, OEC; and William Nye, former Director ODNR. The Ohio Lakefront Group finished its testimony with John Piskura, Mayor-Elect of Sheffield Lake; David Carek; and Dr. Charles Herdendorf, Emeritus Professor of Geological Sciences at The Ohio State University. December 9, 2003 - Opponent testimony was given by David Scott, Sierra Club; Jerome Tinianow, Audubon Ohio; Brian Preston, National Wildlife Federation; Mark Squillace, University of Toledo, College of Law; Dr. Sam Speck, Director ODNR. 2004 H.B. 218 Hearings and Testimony Senate Committee on Energy, Natural Resources and Environment Wednesday, February 11, 2004 - The committee hearings, chaired by Senator Spada, began at 10 a.m. with proponent testimony. The morning started with testimony from OLG Chairman David Carek , Retired Judge Adrian Betleski and James O'Connor . The afternoon session included testimony by Thomas Jordan , Ray Ginter , Russ Claus , Bud Edwards , Ned Schabel , and Sandra Wade . Jack Shaner's testified for the Ohio Environmental Council. Jerome Tinianow , testified as Director of Audubon Ohio.David Scott , of the Ohio Sierra Club testified last. Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - Dr. Sam Speck , the Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, testified before the Energy, Natural Resources and Environment Committee.
